Welcome Words

Welcome to our holiday blog! We're very new to this so forgive us if the blog looks a bit clunky or awkward at times. Anyway, we hope you will enjoy following our travels through Southern USA. During March and April we will be discovering America's 'Deep South', launching our journey in Las Vegas and ending in Texas. We hope you enjoy reading about our journey and (mis)adventures along the way...Daren, Melissa and Logan

Helicoptering through the Grand Canyon

Today I got to do something I have wanted to do forever - take a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon. It's true what they say about the photos not doing it justice - it is something that has to be seen in person to truly understand and put into perspective.

Logan thought he was super cool ging for his first ride in a long black limo (don't get too excited - we haven't won big at the casino - the limo pick-up was included in the helicopter tour package). The flight to the Grand Canyon was just under an hour from Vegas and Logan got to sit right up front next to the pilot so he has had a great day. We spent some time in the West Rim area of the Canyon including a champagne lunch, and on the flight home the helicopter pilot flew right down the middle of The Strip right next to all the famous hotels, which was pretty amazing.
The weather remains warm and sunny here so we spent a few hours poolside this afternoon and then took in a fabulous comedy magic act by a guy called Mac King - very good and it only cost $12 each including a cocktail, beer or spirit! Logan was so impressed he queued for 20 minutes for an autograph with him.

Tomorrow is our last day in Vegas so some shopping might be in order - I might even get around to getting a new sim card for my phone in case my sister Michelle wants to text me and tell me my new niece has arrived - fingers crossed. And I still haven't put the $20 my other sister Amanda asked me to bet for her while I was here (it was $20 on black wasn't it Amanda!)
